UE4 INTERIOR LIGHTING – PART 2 – LIGHTMASS BAKING

UE4 LIGHTMASS BAKING

In this UE4 LIGHTMASS BAKING tutorial, we are going to learn how we can adjust lights and do baking the light into our scene.

We are going to use what we have created in the previous tutorial – so if you missed it, go check it out:

UE4 INTERIOR LIGHTING – PART 1 – SCENE PREP

*Important note: Lightmass Setting method is very dependent on your openings, small openings will require more bounces of indirect light.

Just keep that in mind while watching this:

Alright so make sure to add your lights and do quick bakes to see how each element works in your scene.
You don’t have to use HDRI, you can just use regular sky and get nice bluish Ambiance light.

HDRI images tend to color the scene in their colors, so make sure to match.
Also very tricky is the rotation (position of the sun) of HDRI in the scene.

So make sure to do a lightmass baking test of the sky first, to see if it shining the right way and not causing any crossing shadows.

In the next tutorial, I’m going to show you how we can add background and have a nice crisp result.

P.S.
